Blog post 3

Update....So I posted this blog post for class in a different blogger!! UGH! Sometimes, I wonder how I survive. LOL!

So, here is my original blog post from Monday night...

Tonight's class we discussed DOK's which I severely needed help with. Thanks to great classmates, I was able to find much needed information to help me along! We also discussed different types of reading strategies that I took notes on for future lesson plans. I am starting to really enjoy creating lesson plans! I really like using a web orginzer for any kind of research activity. This can be used for individual work or group exercises. I would use this type of strategy for older students in 4th, 5th or 6th grade.
I also like the quick writes! That would be something I can do with any grade level. I see all sorts of grades doing quick writes and journal writing. Its good for students to think about what they have done and get in some good writing practice.

Lesson plan ideas

For my first lesson plan, I would like this to be in first grade. I would like to do it in Math and discuss the value of money by identifying a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter. The standard would be GM-1C 2: Know the value of a penny, nickel, dime and quarter.

I would like to start out by introducing what a penny is and what it's worth is and build up to how many pennies make a nickel, then dime, to quarter and how many into a dollar. This lesson could take up to two in a half to three days to teach.

Here's a few videos I might use...

I would have different anchor charts for each coin. I really like anchor charts, I think they really get the students to participate as use as a reference for help if they need it.
